Experience

I was a substitute teacher in Washoe County for about three years as I was going to college to become a teacher. I spent my first year teaching as a lower elementary Reading Specialist. My second year teaching was in the fifth grade in Reno. I have been teaching in Round Mountain since 2012. I started as the Middle School Special Education teacher and transferred over to the regular middle school classroom during the 2014-2015 school year.

Bio

I’m a native Nevadan. I grew up in Tonopah and loved playing sports throughout middle school and high school. I moved to Reno to go to UNR after graduating from high school. I worked at the university in an ESL program and received my undergraduate degree in Health Ecology. Before graduating, I decided I wanted to become an elementary teacher. I applied to the Graduate program at UNR and began my Master’s in Elementary Education after receiving my bachelor’s degree. After finishing my Master’s Degree, I began teaching in Reno.

I started dating my husband, who grew up in Round Mountain, during my freshman year in college. We got married in 2009 and continued to live in Reno.

In 2011, my husband and I moved back home to Round Mountain and had our first child. I substituted for the Round Mountain schools during the 2011-2012 school year, and was hired as a permanent teacher at the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year. In 2013, we had our second child. Our family enjoys being outdoors, ranching, and traveling to visit with family.

I love living in Round Mountain and being close to areas to camp and fish. Aside from spending time with family and being outdoors, I also enjoy helping out and participating in junior high and high school sports activities whenever possible.
